Having Some Fun at the Orchestra

As you can tell, I'm a big sports guy. It's just a part of who I am. When I started at the Orchestra, I tried to bring in some fun ideas and one of them was playing off of the old school baseball trading card packs. I even wanted to have gum! Well, I did eventually get the trading cards, but no gum. We give these out at our Common Cords events. These are week long stays in a Minnesota town outside of the Twin Cities, where the musicians interact with the community, participate with them and then play a final concert. The kids go nuts when the musicians hand these out! They want them signed and they treasure the direct interaction with the musicians. As I said when I first arrived at the Orchestra; sports and classical music can mix.
