ENGAGING COLLATERAL
ACCEPTANCE PIECE TO THE COLLEGE OF CHIROPRACTIC
Northwestern Health Sciences University
In this age of social media and posting everything exciting that happens to you, NWHSU lacked an acceptance piece that made the kind of impact to get a student excited about being accepted to our program. This engaging direct mail piece unfolds to reveal that you've been accepted and encourages a social media post. The sticker is a fun gift to stick to water bottles or laptops. Conversion is key for Admissions departments and this piece did the job as enrollment to the chiropractic program has increased during the pandemic.
JUNIOR VIEWBOOK
Saint Mary's University
When I started at Saint Mary's, I met with the Director of Marketing and we brainstormed. We asked ourselves, "In the sea of college mailings high school students receive, how do we get them to look at our collateral and ultimately visit Saint Mary's? " I have two kids in college and championed to truly engage them. I knew from watching my own kids go through piles of college mailings, that you need to grab their attention and give them something to do when they receive the piece. For this mailing, I created a multi-level engagement piece. Making our cool logo the cover was the wow factor. I created the engagement with a perfed wing that opens up to reveal a prominent alumni and a pull out that produces a second reveal of a successful current student. Finally, to keep it simple, I kept all the content to a two-sided pull out that highlights the important things Juniors are looking for in a college: unique opportunities and the majors we offer. The Snapcode we placed on the wing produced a 32% increase in traffic to our Visit page over last year!
WHERE YOU ARE MATTERS
Study Abroad, Saint Mary's University
As with the Junior View Book, we asked ourselves the same question when we turned our attention to the Sophomores. Again, I said we needed to "Wow!" and engage them. The sea of mail is hard to break through. The very first touch is the envelope. Grab them right away with the important message that stresses the importance of 'where'. Our research showed us that study abroad is an important opportunity to this age of high school students. Saint Mary's offers an extensive and rich study abroad experience. I played off an old-school Designer's tool (the proportion wheel) and came up with a fun and engaging piece to easily show what can be studied, and the highlights of the semester, in four of our most popular study abroad destinations.
BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE
Capital Campaign, Minnesota Orchestra
This was one of those rare occasions where you ask, "How much can I spend?" and the answer was "Whatever it takes." This was the leave behind piece that the Development officers used to close the deal on donations for the renovation of Orchestra Hall. It had to be something that multi-million dollar donors would treasure and want to keep after they wrote that check. I was meticulous about all the details; from the richness of the blacks, heaviness of the vellum, selection of fonts, color of the screws, to how the piece closed. The end result was a beautiful coffee table piece and exceeding the donation goal!
